My mother always made fried apples for breakfast or whenever we had ham or pork chops.
6 T unsalted butter
4 T granulated sugar
2 T dark brown sugar
1 T cinnamon
Pinch of nutmeg
3 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
3 Fuji Apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
1 t lemon juice
In a large skillet, melt butter.
Add sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
Slowly melt the sugar while stirring.
Add apples and cook, while gently stirring for 6 to 8 minutes, until tender, but not too tender.
Delicious, served with ham or any pork dish.
Serves 4 to 6
