CHERRY BRANDY OLD FASHIONED

The Old Fashioned cocktail was invented in Louisville, Kentucky and made with Kentucky Bourbon. I made this one with brandy but Bourbon is traditional. This recipe does not contain simple syrup or a sugar cube because of the sweetness of the muddled cherries and the orange juice.

4 maraschino cherries, stems removed
4 dashes angostura bitters, cherry bitters, or orange bitters
Juice of 1 medium orange
½ cup brandy (bourbon can be substituted)
1 orange round, cut in half

Muddle cherries in a cocktail shaker.
Add the bitters, orange juice, and brandy.
Divide among 2 ice-filled glasses and add orange slices to sides of glasses.
