ONE-HOUR SOFT DINNER ROLLS

Do you love the smell of homemade bread or rolls baking in the oven?

Do you love the taste of homemade dinner rolls accompanied with a completely southern dinner or brunch? They are also perfect for sliders or little sandwiches, such as ham or turkey.

1 cup whole milk
3 T unsalted butter, cut into small pieces and softened
2 T granulated sugar
1 T active dry yeast
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 t sea salt
Melted butter, for brushing on rolls

Grease a baking dish or a small cookie sheet.
In a 2-cup heatproof measuring cup, add the milk, butter,
and sugar.
Microwave until mixture is warm to the touch and butter is completely melted.
Pour mixture into the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a paddle.
Sprinkle in the yeast.
Let proof for 10 minutes, until foamy.

Add 1 cup of the flour and salt and mix well.
Add the second cup of flour and salt.
Switch to a dough hook and mix for 2 minutes.
Dough should be soft and sticky.
Transfer to an oiled bowl, cover with a damp tea towel.
Let the dough rise in a warm location for 2 hours, until doubled in size.

Gently punch down dough and divide into 15 equal-sized pieces.
Shape each piece into a ball and place, smooth side up, in the greased pan.
Let rise in a warm spot for 30 to 40 minutes.

Meanwhile, preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

Bake for 20 minutes until golden brown.

Remove from oven and brush with melted butter and sprinkle with some sea salt, if desired.

Makes 15 medium size rolls.
